Scissor Jack
A
scissor jack is a lightweight tool that can usually be found in the trunk of a car that lifts up the vehicle when changing tires. Since they are fairly compact, scissor jacks can be stored easily and come standard with many new cars. The scissor mechanism works by turning the center bar that lifts and lowers the vehicle. A bottle jack is similar in that it is lightweight, compact, and used for raising the car, but you can always tell a scissors jack by the diamond shape of the arms when it’s collapsed.
